What Environment Do You Want The Printer For?

Dust, temperature, and humidity can affect printer performance.

Metal printers will fare better than plastic in a busy site where there may be knocks and heavy-handed users.

Laser printers struggle in dusty, humidity and may need frequent replacement. View our line printer range for a suitable alternative.

What Is Your Budget?

Printers come at a range of price points.

Assess your business's needs and choose a printer with features that align with your requirements.

Don't forget to factor in the lifetime cost of replacement print heads, platens, and maintenance services.

High-end printers have a higher cost, but cheaper printers can carry hidden costs with more frequent replacements and downtime.

How Do I Need To Print?

Your label size affects the printer you can use. Many printers can fit a max width of 4 inches. Labels of A5 and A4 size will need a printer with 6 or 8 inch print width.

Printing small text, barcodes and logos requires a higher resolution, like 300dpi. Examples include electronic components or laboratory vial labels.

For most standard applications like shipping or inventory labels, 203dpi will suffice.

How Often Will You Be Using Your Printer?

Economical desktop printers are ideal for low volumes with low demand, such as retail or hospitality.

More demanding applications will need higher spec printers, especially if they are operating at high speed for entire shifts or longer

Label types also impact the best printer for the job. Synthetics with resins require more heat and pressure, which will wear down the components faster.
